MARCH FAVES: BEAUTY

Hey babes! March might be ending, but that means we are one step closer to tanner days! Here are some things I’ve been loving this month. 1. Jergens Natural Glow Instant Sun Mousse , $12.99- I’ve been using St.Tropez gradual tanning moisturizer and barely noticed a difference. I used this once in hopes I wouldn’t look like an Oompa Loompa and boy, I was shocked. I instantly looked like I arrived from a vacay with a radiant glow. Only downside is it does leave my hands a little brownish. 2. Glossier Cloud Paint in Puff, $18- I’m new to the cream blush scene, but I think I’ll be here a while. This rosy color creates a natural flush without looking overdone. 3. NYX Full Coverage Concealer in Green, $5- I had been using the YSL Touche eclat neutralizer in green but it was too luxe for everyday. This one does the job and didn’t make my ultra sensitive skin breakout. 4. Maybelline FitMe Matte + Poreless, $7.99- Even though I’m a strictly powder gal, I decided to give this a …

Simplified Skincare

Skincare. That is a trigger word for me as someone who suffers from acne, eczema and a host of other skin “diseases”.  After testing out almost every product on the market and learning more about the science behind skincare, I have finally found a routine that works for me. It’s refined to three products – an oil cleanser, eye cream and moisturizer – and supplements to get skin glowing from within. Voila, the magic of simplicity!   Step 1 : Wash with Vichy Pureté Thermale Cleansing Micellar Oil, $18, available at vichy.com. Putting oil on oily skin seems counteractive, right? The answer is no. This Camellia oil enriched cleanser not only helps wash makeup off, but completely transformed my skin from being scaly and flakey to youthfully moisturized. I use once a day, usually at night, to remove makeup. I only use it twice a day if I feel my skin is on the dry side.   Step 2: Moisturize with Belif’s The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb, $38, available at Sephora.com. I received this as a sample with my Clarisonic gift …

In Review: Glossier Phase 1 Set

Glossier is the new “it” girl of skincare and beauty. With it’s minimal yet adorable packaging and simple product line, I immediately fell in love with my Phase 1 Set that I won through Glossier’s Summer Giveaway. I saved the products until I started school in September, and use them here and there so they last because I’m in love it! Here’s my review of the line.  When I first opened the box, I was extremely impressed with the packaging. I am a package nerd, but I love when brands, like Glossier, take the time to cater to their clients aesthetic needs. The cardboard box itself gave a little pep talk, and inside was a crisp white box featuring a glossy “G” on it. As I took the box out, I felt like I was opening my eyes to a new beauty world. As I opened the box, I discovered a clear ziploc baggie with pink bubblegum-colored wrap inside. Within the walls of this girly cuteness I found full-sized Glossier products including a rosewater mist, face …

In Review: Benefit “They’re Real” Mascara

Ok, I must admit, I am one of those girls who really isn’t a makeup guru. I’ll switch up drugstore brands here and there, but rarely do I venture into Sephora to buy products. I’ve always been very simple with makeup and still to this day am trying to perfect the cat-eye look (amen if you can master it). Recently, I’ve ventured into the unknown beauty world, and started using Benefit “They’re Real” mascara. I don’t know why I didn’t try it sooner because it is so worth it! The brush is just phenomenal and features a normal looking part of the brush with a little brush attached to the ends. This allows for less clumps and more va-va-voom action for your lashes. It separates your lashes and makes them appear more even. The formula did not make my eyes itchy, which I have found with some store-brought brands since I am a contact wearer. It lasted throughout the day and did not smudge onto my lower lids. Just use two coats of this baby and you’re good …

In Review: Mario Badescu Skincare

“Love the skin you’re in” is a line I’ve heard over and over again yet it’s hard to love it when breakouts arise. My skin has always been stubborn, sensitive, and uncooperative. For years, I’ve searched far and wide for miracle products that would leave me looking flawless but sadly, I found no magic formula. As I got older, my skin improved a bit, but with school stresses it still wasn’t as healthy as I wanted it to look. A couple weeks ago, I went with my mom to Nordstrom in the hunt for a skincare line her friend kept talking about. We found it and ended up buying Mario Badescu’s toners and drying lotion. Yes, I still had some hope that it would work! That night I followed the instructions the makeup counter lady told me, and did so for the next few days. “First the green toner, then the yellow, and apply the lotion.”   Let me tell you the results have been wonderful so far! My pores have tightened and my face is …
