Free Cash On Cyber Monday??? Yasss

Today is Cyber Monday, so I’ve decided to give everyone a gift of $10 FREE dollars. Yes, you heard that right. All you have to do is join Ebates by clicking this link to receive a $10 cash bonus. And you are probably thinking wow this is a scam just as I did before I joined. But IT IS NOT! I already made over $80 on my Christmas purchases by shopping on my favorite sites such as Neiman Marcus, Sephora, Tarte Cosmetics, Macy’s, Urban Outfitters and more due to cash-back opportunities. Plus, Ebates allows in-store cash back rates as well. To shop, simply click on a link to the store through Ebates website. This is then counted as a shopping trip. Once your order is processed, your shopping trip gains a percentage of cash back on your purchase. Comment below on what you are purchasing on Cyber Monday! xo, Nicole Advertisements

Things To Be Grateful For

Hello loves! It’s been quite a while since I blogged, and it’s for a good reason. In June, I received a job as a fashion and beauty Editorial Assistant for major news publications. Yes, the magazines you see on newsstands at the convenience¬†store and supermarket! Due to this endeavor, I’ve been basically living under strict deadlines, writing my life away and am in the process of moving. Despite my hectic schedule, I am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to do what I love straight out of college and at such a young age. Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving, I figured I should name some of the things I’m grateful for this past year and in my life. My family – My mom, dad and brothers are my support system and I could not do everything I do without them. Whether it was them helping me through college or listening to me complain about sitting in traffic, they are always there. I love them. My friends– I truly love all my friends and am so happy …

Fashion X Film: Almost Famous

The Beatles once said, “Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes.” Indeed, Cameron Crowe’s 2000 film, Almost Famous, has made¬†Penny Lane (Kate Hudson) into a fashion icon. Whether a Led Zeppelin song comes on the radio or a shaggy fur is passed by in a window, Penny Lane is everywhere,¬†leaving her mark as the iconic groupie from the fictional Band-Aids. Her style is a sweet melody¬†of rock n’roll meets bohemian princess. It’s effortless, it’s 70s, and it’s easy to recreate for the modern day girl.   Peasant¬†Shirt Cord Mini Skirt Wool Blend Coat¬† Clog Sandal Peasant Blouse¬† Flare Jeans¬† Fringe Booties¬† Bucket Bag¬† Round Sunnies¬† Peasant Top Velvet Shorts Floral Bootie¬† Led Zeppelin Patch¬† I hope you enjoy these Penny Lane inspired looks. If you haven’t already watched Almost Famous, I recommend it! Stay groovy, Nicole

Simplified Skincare

Skincare.¬†That is a trigger word for me as someone who suffers from acne, eczema and a host of other skin “diseases”. ¬†After testing out almost every product on the market and learning more about the science behind skincare,¬†I have finally found¬†a routine that works for me. It’s refined to three products – an oil cleanser, eye cream and moisturizer – and supplements to get skin glowing from within. Voila, the magic of simplicity!   Step 1 : Wash with Vichy Puret√© Thermale Cleansing Micellar Oil, $18, available at¬†Putting oil on oily skin seems counteractive, right? The answer is no. This Camellia¬†oil enriched cleanser not only helps wash makeup off, but completely transformed my skin from being scaly and flakey to¬†youthfully moisturized. I use once a day, usually at night, to remove makeup. I only use it twice a day if I feel my skin is on the dry side.   Step 2: Moisturize with Belif’s The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb, $38, available at I received this as a sample with my Clarisonic gift …

New Beginnings

Happy New Year lovelies! I hope you are ringing in the new year with lots of health and happiness. This year is all about GOALS for me, not resolutions. I find that setting up goals makes completing them all the more satisfying without the pressure of failure. This year I vow to do the following: Travel as much as possible (ICELAND, Cali, Colorado, Hawaii, Brazil, Greece, Caribbean) Go to more concerts Read 20 books Become fully vegan Do yoga Learn to surf Go to more concerts Practice another language Get my Brazilian citizenship Not curse or get mad easily It’s my priority to complete this list and update everyone on my journey. Since I started my vegan journey a little early, I can proudly say I have not eaten meat in one week! I feel better than ever ūüôā Stay happy, Nicole Photo Credit : Anna Bond, Rifle Paper Co.¬†

I’m Back!

Hello lovely followers, Wow! I cannot believe I haven’t posted since July. Phew. That’s a long time to be away from my creative brainchild, The City & Thrift. Despite me leaving my blog to fend for itself in this blogging jungle, I have been putting my creative efforts elsewhere. As a college Senior, I am currently passing my time taking classes and working as a Beauty and Lifestyle intern at Martha Stewart Living and Martha Stewart Weddings. With almost two months into the job, I can truly say I love it. I have little knowledge in the beauty industry, but am learning as I go along. Whether it’s researching the latest beauty trend, checking in samples, or writing articles for the web, I can say I’m learning the industry inside out and out. Now as I have learned some of the ropes, I am getting the opportunity to go to press events alone, and work on desk sides with beauty brands. It’s been a blast so far, and luckily for you and me, I am …

In Review: Glossier Phase 1 Set

Glossier is the new “it” girl of skincare and beauty. With it’s minimal yet adorable packaging and simple product line, I immediately fell in love with my Phase 1 Set that I won through Glossier’s Summer Giveaway. I saved the products until I started school in September, and use them here and there so they last because I’m in love it! Here’s my review of the line.¬† When I first opened the box, I was extremely impressed with the packaging. I am a package nerd, but I love when brands, like Glossier, take the time to cater to their clients aesthetic needs. The cardboard box itself gave a little pep talk, and inside was a crisp white box featuring a glossy “G” on it. As I took the box out, I felt like I was opening my eyes to a new beauty world. As I opened the box, I discovered a clear ziploc baggie with pink bubblegum-colored wrap inside. Within the walls of this girly cuteness I found full-sized Glossier products including a rosewater mist, face …
