Typically I don’t wear lipsticks because I find them drying, but this one is so creamy and makes my lips appear plumped to #perfection. Nest Dahlia & Vines perfume  Has someone walked by you only to say “what smells so good?”. That is the effect of this fragrance. It’s clean, fresh and has a hint of floral that makes you smell like you showered in a garden. APRIL FAVES

April showers bring May flowers, right? As the sunny days are approaching, I’ve rounded up my faves for this month! FASHION Henri Bendel fringe tote – I’ve been using this bag all month, and am OBSESSED. I love fringe because it gives any outfit a carefree, free-spirited vibe that’s perfect for this time of year. Stella & Dot tassel earrings – I’m usually a stud earring type gal, but these add the perfect amount of cool girl vibes into any outfit. Stella & Dot Aven layering necklace– This 4 in 1 necklace is a must have! It can turn into a long necklace, a choker style, a lariet and all styles together. I can’t wait to bring it on vacation for any easy way to spice up any look! H&M gingham top – Gingham has been on my radar, and this is just the perfect top for work and play. Boohoo off-the-shoulder playsuit– Boohoo has the best sales EVER, so I got this little nautical number for $13. It’s so easy to just throw on with a pair …

MARCH FAVES: BEAUTY

Hey babes! March might be ending, but that means we are one step closer to tanner days! Here are some things I’ve been loving this month. 1. Jergens Natural Glow Instant Sun Mousse , $12.99- I’ve been using St.Tropez gradual tanning moisturizer and barely noticed a difference. I used this once in hopes I wouldn’t look like an Oompa Loompa and boy, I was shocked. I instantly looked like I arrived from a vacay with a radiant glow. Only downside is it does leave my hands a little brownish. 2. Glossier Cloud Paint in Puff, $18- I’m new to the cream blush scene, but I think I’ll be here a while. This rosy color creates a natural flush without looking overdone. 3. NYX Full Coverage Concealer in Green, $5- I had been using the YSL Touche eclat neutralizer in green but it was too luxe for everyday. This one does the job and didn’t make my ultra sensitive skin breakout. 4. Maybelline FitMe Matte + Poreless, $7.99- Even though I’m a strictly powder gal, I decided to give this a …

Weekly Favorites: WW2 Weekend and Vegan Cuts Ambassador

Hello Thrifties! I hope you have all been enjoying the sunshine and relaxing during the beginning of these summer months. Just this weekend, I experienced my first tan, or rather burn, of the summer at World War 2 Weekend in Reading, PA. What is WW2 Weekend you might ask? This 3-day festival is held every June at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum and is a complete reenactment of soldiers camps in World War 2. My dad has been reenacting as an American soldier for almost ten years now, and brings his share of vintage motorcycles and military gear. As a total history and vintage fashion nerd, I loved seeing everyone dress up authentically and the roar of 1940s war planes fly around the air field. At the festival, I had an opportunity to do my first filmed segment with a real camera crew and producer. It was so weird having the camera on my face since I’m normally a writer behind the scenes. As soon as the camera started rolling, my heart was pounding, my cheeks …

Weekly Wrap Up: Vegetarian Living and Philly

Hey there! I know I haven’t posted much on The City and Thrift lately but that’s because I was busy finishing up the semester and transitioning into summer. Now that school is over, I have a bit more time to focus on writing, reading, and relaxing. Currently, I am transitioning into a vegan/ vegetarian lifestyle! This past year, I’ve had many stomach issues including the lining of my stomach becoming inflamed. I experienced the worst stomach pains of my life and had no clear explanation as to why it was happening. I would bloat easily and experience horrendous stomaches after meals. With much thought, I started becoming more aware of what I was putting into my body. I stopped eating super fatty foods, as well as dairy, both of which can heavily affect your stomach if your body cannot digest it. I am not going to lie, going vegetarian and vegan in a world of carnivores is a difficult feat. However, that didn’t discourage me and it shouldn’t discourage you if you feel like this lifestyle is …

Weekly Wrap Up: New York Fashion Week 15′

This weekend, I had the opportunity to work NYFW 15′ with a hip public relations and communications company. I met many other awesome interns, and was able to observe two runway shows for the first time. The first show was menswear by Asaf Ganot, and the second was womenswear by Giulietta New York. The whole experience was one to remember!         I hope to go back to next season’s New York Fashion Week, and experience different brands and shows!   Stay stylish, Nicole

Weekly Wrap Up: Chilly Blizzard

So this week has been filled with blizzards, and I don’t mean the kind you get from Dairy Queen! I am grateful I ended up getting a day and a half off because I got to catch up on lots of homework and of course, movies and television shows. On Monday, I ventured into the city during the snow storm because I had an interview with the PR Firm I mentioned in last week’s wrap up. I went in super early because I was afraid the train would be delayed, but I got there in time and was able to walk around SoHo for a little bit. It was nice to walk the bare sidewalks, since most people were indoors, and see all the glam stores! I was eager to do the interview, and luckily the whole thing went really great. I GOT THE JOB! So now I’ll be working New York Fashion Week with the PR firm, and my first runway show. It’s as if all my dreams are slowly coming true. I can’t …

Weekly Wrap Up: Schoolin’ Around

Hey hey! So I haven’t posted as much this week since school started up again and classes have taken up most of my day. Luckily, all my classes are really interesting, but mentally I’m not ready for the heaps of reading I have this weekend. Eventually I will get back into the groove! This week was laid back, and sadly nothing too exciting happened. Actually, just kidding, I just remembered I received an interview with a PR firm to work New York Fashion Week in February. I’m nervous and excited because my dream is to go to Fashion Week. I currently in the process of deciding what to wear, and when I do decide I’ll make a post about it! I’m thinking of going with a plain black jumpsuit I brought over break with a black basic and some type of bootie. If that outfit fails, my back-up is a turtleneck with some sort of fashionable skinny legging. Of course, I’m sticking to the neutrals! Since this week was mostly just hustle and bustle, I’ll end …

Weekly Wrap Up: Hauls and Halls

This week, I’ve been soaking up the last bits of winter break and watched a ton of tv in my pajamas because I could! Despite my extra dose of laziness, I ended up doing some fun activities these week including going to see Wicked on Broadway and doing a haul. This is only the second play I’ve seen so far, but I can honestly say it will be my favorite. The special effects, acting, and story were just so amazing. This is a must-see for any Wizard of Oz fan! I did a quick beauty haul featuring products from Target, and was disappointed they didn’t have the NYX matte lip cream I wanted! Better luck next time I suppose! My favorite product I brought was Doutzen Kroes X L’Oreal Paris’s nail polish in Nude 600. It’s the pinkish mauve color and is absolutely to die for. I’m in the process of trying the other products, so stay tuned! My favorite outfit of the week is this one. I paired a chunky cream scarf (not shown) with my A.P.C perforated …

Weekly Wrap Up: Laxin’ For Days

Hey there! This week has been quite fun with equal parts of it being relaxing. I spent my second to last week of Winter Break sipping homemade iced coffee and watching reruns of Keeping Up with the Kardashians and Mob Wives (guilty pleasures). It’s been nice to relax after a long semester of working in New York City, but being who I am, I always need something to keep myself occupied. Luckily, I’ve been writing for CollegeFashionista, and my first article was published yesterday! As you probably can tell, The City and Thrift is slowly but surely changing into the blog I want it to be. I updated my theme and made an Instagram so it’s easy to catch up on blog posts and see what’s going on. The outfit featured above is my favorite outfit of this week, and was perfect for the ultra cold weather in New Jersey. The only downside is it was my first time wearing Doc Martens, and I bruised up a bit from wearing them! I’m hoping to break …
